The History of Malaysian Football


It was said that football come to Malaysia during the years 1900. and the Football Association of Malaysia was founded the year 1933, which is called F.A.M for short, it was the governing body for football in Malaysia. It is responsible for organizing the Malaysian national football team, and the major football and futsal tournaments within the country. The British were the one bring football in Malaysia during their reign before the Japanese came during the 1941. The first national tournament started in 192, it was known as HMS Malaya Cup, later renamed as Malaysia Cup in 1963 and had been continuously since then, except during the war years.
In 1926 the Selangor Amateur Football League was formed and in 1936 the Football Association of Selangor was formed. In 1926, the Football Association of Selangor,Perak,Malacca,Negeri Sembilan and Singapore Amateur Football Association come together to form the Malayan Football Association, it was form in order to field a Malayan team to against the Australia that came to Singapore that year.
In 1933, the MFA was revived to form the Football Association of Malaysia. Initially the FAM was based in Singapore. It was chiefly responsible for the running of the Malaya Cup Competition and it was a huge success.
Tunku Abdul Rahman love for the game was the main key for improving Malaysian Football. He was the main reason of the construction of Merdeka Stadium, He was also the key man in developing Malaysian Football
